  2. Response to article:
This was about the Tuba City Council members writing checks to themselves that were unauthorized. The members all wrote checks to themselves that have been stacking on for a long time. They've been taking it from other accounts. Lewnell Harrison from Ethics and Rules Committee filed complaints to remove the members. The money was suppose to go towards a program to help provide electricity to 22 families between Tuba City and Cameron. If they were quilty they had to pay them back and were not allowed to public office for five years.

  3. The Ethics complaints filed against Tuba City officials story was about five chapter officials from Tuba City chapter were cited to taking money out of the Navajo Nation funds, which led to violation of trust, undue or improper influence and abuse of official position. Charlene Nez, secretary/treasurer, said she assumed that she did recieve the 21 authorized payments totaling up to $26,668.50. Robert Yazzie allegedly recieved 15 unauthorized payments and signed on nine checks, primary approver for 15 checks. Also Goldtooth, Herbert, and Holgate have done the same for other checks. The money these officers have taken from the funds were suppose to go to 22 families that were under the Shadow Mountain Powerline project from Cameron to Tuba City. Until 50% of the match of $731,000 come up, the project is on hold. They are going to be case hearing for these chapter official in the months of October and November.

  4. Nobody really keep care of the incidents that lead to the investigation of the Tuba City Chapter memebers and officials. The investigation deals with the officals misusing the funds that were given by the Navajo Nation Buget and Finance committe and by the President and the council members. It is inmorally wrong to do such thing that take away from people who have choosen you to do something that will improve your well being and the surrounding enviroment. It just an amazement that the Navajo Nation Ethics ans Rules Offical found out about the misuse of the funds at the Chapter level. I am just glad that they are doing their best to figure this out and trying to make sure that it does not happen again to the people.

  5. the actions of the tuba city chapter was a bit crazy, knowing that people who are supposed to be looking out for the welfare of many of there neighbors/ navajo people, are somehow corrupt. giving themselves under the table bonus checks to better their own lives instead of others.
our chapter official used almost $85,000 dollars for self gratification, postponed a project to help families that still live the golden days, nd gave our navajo government a bad name. The teachings of the naataani ways were severely violated.

  6. This article tells of how our city's officials allegedly payed themselves with high sums of money ($84,000). The large sums of money put projects that would've made the communities and people satisfied. They also put the community into a more economic crisis which reached the media and announced the leaders untrustworthy and thieves.

  8. The article talks about Max D. goldtooth Sr (president), Robert Yazzie (vice president), Charlene Nez (secretary/treasurer), and Helen Herbert & Jimmy Holgate (council delegate) taking money more than 84,000$ in bonus checks through october 1, 2009 to march 10, 2010. Filing the complaint was Lewnell Harrison (Navajo Nation Ethics & ruled office), he wanted them to be removes immediately and pay restitution. It shows how many unauthorized payments they received between each member of the NN. Also how they created accounts such as the "2010 New Project Incentive", chapter houses, and the "buisness site leave". It also says that council of naat'aanii only receives 250$ and no more, but it raises suspicion to the fellow members of there high payments. Due to money loss projects involving NTUA have been in hold off because of the chapter houses low funds. Citizens and other members of the council want to see justice from these people and a personal apology to everyone on the huge money loss.
